Mallotus kongkandae Welzen & Phattar. (Euphorbiaceae) was previously recorded from Thailand and China, but it was not known in Laos. Mallotus kongkandae was recently discovered in Phu Fa mountain, Phongsali province, northern Laos. Description and photographs are provided.
